Choosing a hospital

When you visit the doctor you pay a user fee. However, if you are admitted to hospital, the treatment you receive is free. Many people in Norway are waiting for operations. Different hospitals have different waiting times. As a patient you have the right to choose the hospital at which you want to be treated. You must pay a user fee for transport to the hospital. Your regular doctor can advise you about the hospitals where you can be treated. You can check the waiting times on the Free Hospital Choice website.
